However, there is a treasure trove of gems to be discovered. We’ve put together a few of the best-kept secrets on the Gold Coast that will have you feeling like a local in no time.
The city’s seaside location offers more than just great surf and beaches – it’s also a seafood lovers’ paradise. Meet the trawlers of the Gold Coast Fishermen’s Cooperative each morning at The Spit and gets your hands on last night’s catch, fresh off the boat. A range of fish, prawns, squid, bugs and crabs are on offer daily.
If you’re wanting to enjoy some great fish and chips with a view, look no further than Charis Seafoods. Bring the kids along for the pelican feeding held everyday at 1.30pm. Or if you’re wanting an upscale experience lock in The Fish House for southern European seafood dishes and fine wines.
Escape the hustle and bustle for a relaxing drive through Mt Tamborine. Close to Cedar Lake Resort and just a short drive from the coast, you will find yourself nestled amongst the small village atmosphere with boutique wineries like Mount Tamborine Vineyard & Winery, local cheeses like Witches Chase Cheese Company, local breweries like Fortitude Brewing Company and artisanal products to delight your taste buds.

The region is scattered with cafes and each is unique with their own personality and specialty. With a coffee culture rising up to rival any city around Australia, connoisseurs of the finest cup won’t be disappointed.
